create innovation, conceiving training as key element for
technology transfer from research entities to enterprises.

Objectives
The maritime economy comprises a number of sectors, which is why
field investigation is needed to obtain up-to-date data on the
structural characteristics, skills and occupational dynamics of
each of them.
The Training Needs and Skills Observatory aims at monitoring the
development of the skills employed at production level, in order
to:
- Identify the new/renewed technical and professional skills,
both general and specific, that maritime industry operators need to
be competitive at international level;
- Provide said operators with adequate training and information
for the promotion and implementation of special training to meet
their present and future needs;
- Inform the operators on the weaknesses to be addressed.
