Over the last decade, deep changes have occurred in the maritime
economy at global level in terms of marketing and production
strategies. Hence, the idea of progettoMare Friuli Venezia Giulia:
a project aimed at identifying and interpreting the needs of the
maritime industry, through the establishment of a permanent
observatory on the maritime world, in order to train and upgrade
the skills of those who work "for the sea", thus enabling them to
face the new challenges posed by the market.
progettoMare sees the participation of key actors belonging to
the vocational training system, the business world, research and
innovation as well as the university and school systems of the
region: taking advantage of the peculiarities of each of them,
progettoMare will make sure that the needs of the maritime economy
are thoroughly and efficiently met, addressing the requirements of
all people involved at all levels, from students to
entrepreneurs.
progettoMare provides a complete range of training schemes oriented towards the maritime economy to promote its competitiveness and allow for the widening and strengthening of the maritime industry-related network at regional, national and international level.

A partnership between enterprises, professional associations, training, research and innovation entities, universities and schools was established in order to meet the training needs of the sector, thereby supporting growth and innovation of the maritime economy of the region.

The Shipbuilding and Boatbuilding Technological District was created to strengthen the competitiveness of Friuli Venezia Giulia businesses operating in qualified segments of the shipbuilding and boatbuilding industries.
